Title: Control Assembly and cable routing
Post by: Julio A. on January 08, 2015, 08:21:11 AM
Ever since I swapped my U.S standard handle bars with the shorter euro spec ones, I'm having troubles with my Brake line hitting the bottom of the tachometer, awkwardly pushing the whole right assembly into the rubber instrument cover. Same goes for the Left side controls. except its the clutch cable pushing it up this time.

I kinda wasted my entire afternoon routing and re-routing before I thought that I'm doing something wrong.

By any chance does anyone has a picture or can show me how the control assemblies are properly routed?

I think your basic issue, is that the clutch cable and brake line on the high bars, are too long when you put the lower bars on .
If you go the the parts diagrams, you will find different lengths available for these two parts .

I already replaced my clutch cable with the proper length for the lower bars as well as the brake lines. When I get back home I'll try to have a go at it again.  :)

Julio

I have the low bars and things are tight. For example to remove the instrument surround I have to slacken off and rotate the right hand controls a little. Nothing touches in use though.

I'm decorating and up to the eyes in emulsion paint at the moment. Just taking a well earned break and a cup of coffee. If I get a chance later on when I'm finished I'll take some pics for you.

Here's a picture of the left side I posted some years back.

Here's a picture of the RH side although I'm not sure how much it's going to help.

And that's exactly what I needed to see Barry. The right hand side fitted in properly with still some room to spare. Thanks.

Btw, is that the earlier round master cylinder?
