Title: replacement windshield ?
Post by: kenlodge on September 13, 2014, 08:11:11 PM
hi, i recently removed the Vetter Quicksilver fairing & would like to put some kind of a windshield back on.
can anyone speak to the quality of National Cycle -- Deflector Screen or Street Shield -- & /or have any other ideas?
Thanks!

also, if anyone's interested in the fairing for the cost of shipping shoot me a msg.  it's 1983 blue, fair condition, good paint & lights, needs a little fiberglass repair.  PICS: http://s376.photobucket.com/user/kenlodge/library/Vetter%20Quicksilver%20Fairing%20from%201983%20R65

I had a National screen on my R65 for two seasons in the mid to late 90's. Did what it was supposed to do. I do not remember any quality issues. I do remember that it was easy to mount. Sold it for 75% of my investment costs, I was happy

I got this one and it seems to be ok. I like that there are no holes in the plastic for mounting. I saw a guy try to adjust the position of his windshield and it cracked right at the mounting holes. I had my bike fall over on its center stand (pavement sank down) The windshield hit a car and did not crack. All of the adjustments were out of whack and there are a couple of rub marks in it but no cracks. It is adjusted up pretty high right now but it will go down quite a bit if you want. The cut out at the bottom does not really match what we need but if it is lower and in front of the gauge pod it is not rely noticeable. I have it up high because this is where I get the least head buffeting. http://www.ebay.com/itm/290838274440?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649I

I have had a handlebar mount windscreen made by GIVI on my bike for a number of years. I have not had any problems with it, and it seems to fit the lines of the bike pretty well.
