Title: Braided brake line
Post by: MikeFossl on August 12, 2014, 08:58:29 PM
Does anyone know what end fittings I need for an 85 R65 with a single brembo?

According to my VIN, I have a Jan 1985, US bike.  Based on the two parts diagrams for single brembo brakes for pre 85 and 85 and on, it looks like I have a hybrid of sorts.  Pre 85 bikes are supposed to have a banjo fitting at the master cylinder and 10 mm female fitting at the caliper end (attached to the fixed tubing).  85 and on are supposed to have a two line setup, with a coupler between and a pressure switch for the brake light.

In any case , I now have a Vennhiil SS brake line with 10mm male and 10 mm female adapters.  I'm really pleased with the improvement and the service from Vennhill was great.

My '87 has a single disc and one line from master cyl to caliper - I just got a Vennlill Stainless line from Motobins. I got a high bars length at 860 I think. Bolt on, banjo and female.  The master cyl end has a right angle bend, stock doesn't...I didn't like the idea at first, but it's works out well.  Could be a problem going back to low bars though.

Is the single line secured anywhere behind the head light ??

This may or may not be a concern, but I've seen the single front brake line chaff on wiring, if not secured somewhere behind the head light area .

Maybe something to keep an eye on .

Mine chaffed on the S fairing under braking and bumps - there was clearance standing there looking at it, not under movement. Sorted - no S fairing.
