Title: Feeble brake light

I was riding with my brother yesterday, he has a '76 R90. We switched bikes for a while, and while riding behind him I noticed how weak my brake light is. I'll open and up and see if anything can be done to mprove the existing fixture, but I suspect it is what it is.

I'm thinking about adding something like this, anyone have anything to suggest?

For $60 you can get the Beacon 2 tail light from Rick Jones at Motorrad Electric (motoelekt.com).  I've got one on my bike.  Super bright, draws less power than stock, and fits in place of the stock tail lamp reflector.  I'd buy another without thinking twice about it.

I run "hyper lites" running and brake, it's another option to look at

+1 another vote for the Beacon-2 tailight assembly - quick easy and reliably bright.  Also, won't run the risk of melting through your red plastic lense cover as some people do when they fit an incorrect (larger size and wattage) incandescent bulb.

I am using Hyperlites on my K75s. There is an unused area, left and right, inside the brake light housing on K bikes. The Hyperlites install inside the tail light lens and are very effective.

I have the Beacon 2, the Stopper LED light strip on the bottom of my license plate, and a generic version of Hyperlights, Electropods .

I do a lot of night riding and all of these items have proven useful to me .

If someone is following too closely, I put the rear brake on lightly, the light switch turns on long before the shoes start to make contact on the drum .

Most of the time the tailgater, backs off .

These folks will sell you a nice setup that makes your brake lights flash when you first put the on. superbrightleds.com

It requires a little wiring but is cheap and has lasted well so far. Not sure if it is legal in all state but it is in Oregon.
