Title: ATE Caliper overhaul kit. Best place UK
Post by: cosmikdebriis on March 05, 2014, 06:45:12 AM
I'm going to need to replace my seals (though the dust covers and clips are fine)

Where's the best place to buy the whole kit or, if available, just the seals.

Mot Bins are asking £35 for a kit for two calipers.

I think you might be lucky to find the seals on their own as a spare part.  I thought about it a while back and wondered if it would be possible to find generic calipers seals.  As you have the chance to measure them a I would give it a try at somewhere like this http://www.motorcycleproducts.co.uk/brakes-c-108.html?osCsid=u4jt8nv3qv4he0nkc827i1d2h0

I just checked 36mm is the one size they don't have but you get the idea that generic seals might be a possibility. There has to be a brake specialist somewhere that could match the parts.

The Motobins kit only services one ATE caliper.  Those are some expensive bits of rubber.

The kit doesn't come with the o-ring that goes between the caliper halves, either.

Guys,

I have recently acquired a new generous allotment of the ATE' caliper O-rings.  This is the o-ring that is sandwiched in-between the caliper halves.  Contact me if you need any, either by PM here on the forum or at mvtv@cox.net.

Rob,

Stop - You're making me blush.  It's really not a problem - the least I can do for all the help I've received on the forum.  The o-rings are pennies in cost, literally less cost than the stamp to mail.  It's just a matter of finding the right size and material to do the job.

I'm secretly working toward Monte willing me that painted "fugawe club".

Oh, no you don't! Not so fast there, Paleface.

My infamous and rare Fugawe War Club got a workout last weekend during the attack on the pushrod tube seal settlers.

Funniest I was ever instructed to draft :- "I have received legal advice that I must mention my wife XXXXX in this my will. Having done so, I now move on."
