Title: Shock mount nut
Post by: AlfromNH on February 09, 2014, 08:49:52 AM
My bike had these nuts on the top shock mounts. Are they stock? If not, any idea where I can get them? Max's fiche makes it look like an ordinary hex nut.

On my bike the bolt goes from the outside in, with plain nuts on the inboard side of things.

My guess is that if you start the bolts from the inside and put those nuts on the outside, you now have a luggage tie down.  Very cool, but it could use a little powder coating  ;)

Google "bungee nuts" and you'll find a plethora of them. They are not an OEM item but very handy.  http://www.jcwhitney.com/motorcycle-bungee-nuts/p2004407.jcwx

Yeah, I like the luggage tie down aspect. I'm not sure how well powder coating would stand up to that kind of use, so I was just thinking of getting new ones.
