Any help at all on this is really appreciated.
I purchased a rear brake kit #25-RS (shoes & springs) from a BMW dealer for approx. $110.00 total. This is the same?? kit shown on RealOEM.com for an 84 LS. The shoes look & line up with the old seemingly fine. They mounted with no trouble and then low and behold, there is not enough adjustment to tighten the shoes. On re inspection the new shoes are a little shy in diameter??? The #s on the shoes from this kit are 34211235 693 & 34211235 694.
The numbers on the old shoes are 34211242 603 & 34211242 604.
The dealer now indicates that the correct shoes numbered 34212311082 & 34212311083 are available from Europe in 2 to 3 weeks for approx. $100.00 each! Who’s making this complicated? Ironically, last fall I meant only to install brakes. $1500.00 and a general refurbishment latter I am still riding on the old linings with 20% left.
Can anyone help me with accuracy, source, and price??

It sounds like you have the brake shoes for a standard R65, the LS version has a larger diameter brake drum. I replaced my brake shoes with aftermarket parts from EBC, this was a few years ago, but I think I paid around $50 US for the parts, $100 each is a ridiculous price. I don't know what's so special about the LS brake shoe other than a slightly different size, but it seems that each brake shoe is about $48-50 US each, and a set for a standard R65 is about $55 US.

I would do your best to get a full refund from the dealer for the wrong set, and go with aftermarket, like Bob says.

Just to clarify the RealOEM site, the kit number you refered to 25-RS, is an item number to the illustration, not the kit part number. The 25 is the item number, and the RS denotes a kit ( normally multiple parts). The last part numbers the dealer gave you ending in 082 and 083 are the correct BMW OEM part numbers for LS brake shoes. I don't see a kit for the LS, but there is one for the standard R65, and the illustration item is 25-RS. BMW part number for the kit is : 34212310523. To get to the illustrations that are applicable to your bike, on the first page of RealOEM, there is a box to enter the last 7 characters of your bike's VIN, enter the numbers, and then hit search. I don't know what dealer you are going to, but on average most BMW dealers are quite unknowledgeable on the old airhead bikes, that's why you need to get real good at researching your own parts.

Did you get the brake mystery sorted out???
