I am thinking of putting a set of Mikuni 34 mm on the 82 R65 . They are currently on my R100RS and configured as
210 main jets
35 idle jets
6DH4 jet needles
169-P0 needle jets
2.5 slides (piston valves)
Just wondering if anyone has done this and what they are running

Not a very common mod for this bike, I can only remember one other member posting about this and that was years ago .

The post from the last year was with mikuni 32mm carbs. 34's would probably work, but the bigger the throat the harder the time you will have keeping the bike at idle. The bigger the carb throat the more airflow you need to draw fuel from the jets, and the R65's smaller displacement means it doesn't breathe as much as the big boys. Probably not a big deal here.
As far as jetting goes, here is part of a post started by bubby-joe:
The label actually says not for use on aircraft. ( I don't fly inverted anymore and neither should you) The kit is from ROCKY POINT CYCLES, NH for older ailing BEEMERS and OTHERS and BILL the WIZARD did the jetting from my altitude 0 to 2500ft and extra jets for up to 5000ft included along with some new fuel line, all rubber conectors I cut 1 old airbox conector in 1/2 to fill the gap but all in all a great kit.
The thread was titled "Mikuni's on my R-65"
Perhaps Bill from Rocky Point Cycles can hook you up with the right jets and rubber boots. Let us know if you meet success.

My LS has 34mm Mikunis, but too many things are different to help you out. It's got an 850 kit with head work. But - the jets that were in it when I got the bike didn't work very well. I swapped some from another set of round slide Mikunis (including the needles) that supposedly came from a 750 airhead. Amazingly, they work perfect giving me a lot more power, smooth running and 50mpg no matter how I ride it.
I'll second that suggestion - contact Rocky Point for their recommendations.

Thanks fella's ... I guess I will do some trial an error on this.
The carbs originally came from Rocky Point .. but I bought them off a guy that never installed them . I have been liking the difference on the RS .. but will be going for 38/40 mm Dells on that soon .. and didn't want these carbs to go to waste .
Shame I never got to bumped into you Wireworks when I was " living/existing " in Portland a couple of years ago and touring on my K1100LT

You might try your luck with the jetting concerns on a Mikuni-ized Airhead over on the Boxerworks forum. We like having you and your R65 among us but as previously posted, there's not much data on that carb conversion here in our asylum.
I'm on that B'works forum, too, for my R100S help and questions. I like the way some of the Boxerworks folks often "tell it like it is".
Just be sure you're wearing your Nomex shorts. Opinions can sometimes be strong. ;)
