Title: Saddle Bag Compatability
Post by: flybot on August 03, 2013, 08:32:32 AM
I have found a nice set of BMW hard saddle bags and the mounting brackets. But they are for a '79 R65. Anyone know of a compatablity chart or if they will go on a '85 R65? I dont have part numbers, but may be able to get them, if seller is cooperative.

IIRC, the 1979-80 R65s had a different rear subframe than the follow on years. Confirm fitament before shelling out your cash. I see so many BMW parts n' pieces advertised and stating they "will fit all years". Not always so.

I doubt twin-shock mounts would work on a mono-shock bike.

I think the mono-shock bikes all used the same luggage and mounts as the K bikes.  "System" cases, they were called.
