About a week ago I noticed a few small drops of oil under my R65. Wiped it up and checked all the usual suspects but couldn't find the source. Sprayed everything down with Simple Green and wiped it clean. Checked daily but nothing dripped for 2-3 days.
Then yesterday I checked after not having ridden it for 2 days and again a small line of drips. Not even a 1/2 teaspoon amount but in a distinct line of drops.
Checked again and found oil running along a couple of the cooling fins on the bottom of the oil pan and traced it back to the oil pan bolt at the end. Oil weeping around the bolt. Put a wrench on it and found it just barely more than finger tight.
Snugged it up and started checking and all of the oil pan bolts were the same way. Snugged them all back to factory specs.
What I am wondering is why? I have never removed the oil pan and haven't had anything more than a drop or two of oil show up every 3-4 months.
Any ideas?

I read a book recently about the coming war with garden gnomes. This could be their first line of attack.
Alternately, you may have forgotten to leave the appropriate amount of beer out for your garage sprite, and now he's angry.
These are serious problems, so I suggest a comprehensive review of actions and behaviors, plus a dedication to proving your worthiness.

Guess I'm gonna have to get gnasty with those gnomes.
And if that garage sprite wants any more beer he's going to have to keep that garage a lot cleaner than he has been.

Yep, garden gnomes going postal. It figures since all the yard jockeys have been kidnapped.

Hello !
Maybe Gnomes are the culprits (mines are well behaved and won't do such a thing).
I think you have a gasket which is as dry as a bone and it has collapsed somewhat, turning the screws loose.
If I were you, I buy a new gasket for the oil pan, and at next oil change, remove it, clean the inside, clean the oil pump intake filter and re-assemble with the new gasket. And you're done for the next 30 years.
There has been report of stripped threads in this area, so stick with the torque tightening figure... Would be bad to loose all that fresh oil on the road, wouldn't it ?

give away beer? no wonder we're at war with the gnomes ! hope it doesn't have to be won by gnoclear weapons! 8-)

"Ha ha ha, hee hee hee, I'm the laughing gnome and you can't catch me!"

I was working in the garden the other day and saw one of the gnomes. When I asked him if he knew anything about my problem, do you know what he said?

This !

Nobody suspected they would forge an alliance.
Now that the gnomes have air support, things are looking grim
