Title: Exhaust cross overs
Post by: Hrvatin on April 30, 2013, 05:15:54 AM
Does anyone know where I can buy the exhaust cross overs?  I tried Max, and the front one is on back order with no estimated date, and the one underneath is ordered from Germany.
These don't seem like complicated pieces for re-manufacture, and I thought would be normal replaceable items.  What am I missing?
Any help would be appreciated.

How about a stainless one from Keihan in England?

Motobins or Motorworks in the UK.

Probably got them in chrome as well as the Stainles Armen has already mentioned.

Production of the second generation R65 stopped in 1984, that's 29 years ago .

Manufacturers are only required to have parts available for 20 years in the US .

I seem to recall that some vacuum cleaners have the same size metal tube as the crossover pipes some owners have used this as a short term fix ..

The front x-over pipe just happens to be the same size as 1" electrical conduit.  At least it was on the '80...  Cut a chunk to size, cut a couple of slits on the ends, and attach with SS hose clamps.

Justin makes a good suggestion.

I needed a new xmember pipe & parts houses want upwards of $80 new.
Went to local hardware store & purchased drain pipe silver plated over brass that fits beneath kitchen sink - a $10 fix.
