Hi All,
I joined up a few years ago with the intent of, among other things, learning all I could about my new to me 1981 R65. Then I bought an Airstream travel trailer. Well, finally back to cleaning the bike up after 2 years of Airstream reno! As part of my R65 update, I bought new choke and throttle assemblies. My question is, how to run the cables up to through the handlebars? Any pictures, diagrams, etc. would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Chris

Hello !
No rocket science here. Just place them in a way they are supple, do not tie them down to the frame and check that when moving the handlebar from one side to the other the carbs don't get accelerated. Be logical, do not bend them hard, and it should be good.
They will move around but that's normal.
The only trick to know is to assemble the jointer boxes first otherwise you won't have enough cable play. I put Teflon based grease liberally into the jointing boxes to prevent water from entering and rusting the cables. I got the grease from a bicycle shop and it is said to be safe on plastics.

That's a great help. Thanks very much for pointing me in the right direction.

If you still need pics, Ive got a few from my '83 R65 restoration that I took while tearing it down that show the cable routing. Im not sure how different those years are though.
