I know its a dumb question but does anyone know where the filler for the gearbox is on an 86 model R65?

It should be the same as the earlier bikes. A filler plug with a 10mm Allen key on the side of the box just above the gear change shaft.
-
Use an Allen socket if you have one. An Allen key will be difficult.
-
If the filler plug is stubborn, you may need to give a hit or two with a rubber or plastic face hammer/mallet .
Or, you can put a 10mm socket on the allen wrench, with a long extension and use that to get it to break free .

Cheers guys....

It is strongly suggested that you invest in an owner's manual for your bike.

Like Wavy Dave says. [smiley=thumbsup.gif]
There's an R65 owners manual for download in the FAQs Section. It's for twin-shock models but we have gearboxes on our bikes, too.

The '86 monoshock is very different from the earlier twin shock R65 models. It was similar to the R80 and R100, with a smaller engine. I don't know how similar the twin shock models were to the other models, but I think it was pretty unique.
I'd get the right manual.

Yes, you want the correct owners manual.
Later editions of Haynes cover this model reasonably well if you want a workshop manual. I picked up a very clean copy on ebay.
As has been said the gearbox filler should be the same for all so you can still look at the manual in FAQ.
