Evening Chaps.
Quick question.
Will 85 K100RS front brembo calipers fit a 79 R65?
Part numbers don't appear to be the same.
Anyone know the measurement between mounting holes or any other info, ie piston diameter, K100rs disc thickness.?

I don't believe those will work. The four piston brembos from early Ks will work on the monoshock R65 with slight modification, but I haven't heard of any substitutes for the early bikes.
Perhaps you can do the leg work for us and figure out which tokico or other Japanese calipers can be easily modded to work!

The ones I'm looking at appear to be two piston Brembos, that's what got me thinking they might be the same. Im sure I read somewhere that the yoke on the R65's was used on the later K's? Might have to call the local beemer shop. Thanks for the reply.

79beemer, one of our members here, username JulioA, was doing some testing of what calipers may work on a twin shock R65 .
I know he was trying to make a caliper from a K series bike, but I don't know which one .
May want to send him a PM and see what he has to say about it .
One member here put an entire K75 frontend on his R65 .

Ok, this is a continuation from what I added to the recent Rotor post.
BMW R65 80 100 RT RS Monolever, 1989 K100RT, 2 pot (piston) Calipers should fit a 79 R65 and all later models having 108mm center to center between mounting holes.
Piston diameters do vary, but Snowbum recommends in his brake article fitting calipers and seeing how they perform before swapping the MC.

Its also possible according to Snowbum to fit 4 pot Brembo calipers from much later K and R's to our bikes with a small amount of milling of the mounting surface of the caliper.
I'm waiting to hear back from a chap with a pair of R1100RT R1150RT K1200 Brembo Calipers to confirm the 108mm spacing.

Feedback from sellers and other websites seems conclusive and supports Snowbums article.
The following 4 pot calipers have 108mm mounting hole centers
BMW #34112331627 Left Ride (non-abs)
BMW #34112331628 Right side (non-abs)
K 1 1989, 1990, 1991, 1992, 1993
K 100 RS 1990, 1991, 1992
K 1100 LT 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997
K 1100 RS 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996
R 100 R 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996
R 100 R Mystik 1994, 1995, 1996
R 1100 RS 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001.
Also 34112333111 and 34112333112 K 1200 LT 1999, 2000, 2001.
There could be more but I feel that's more than enough to keep me going. I did notice the brake line was connected to the caliper via a banjo bolt on the K1200 LT.
Again, its not the caliper but the rotor offset which is the potential minor set back.

I intend to fit the calipers first with the oem rotor and asses the changes.

The mono shock "R" 18" wheel fits the K series but it is not a "Snowflake" pattern as on the early R65,s and has Brembo brakes.
