Here's a puzzle. I had to remove the carbs on my 79 to put starter valves back in correct position (some PO had inverted left and right). On reassembly, as you see on the photo the r.h. air inlet pipe will not align with the air filter, it's way off centre. Funny thing: before I took the carbs off it all lined up and fit perfect. Now I can't get it to line up no matter how much I jiggle it all around. What's going on?

Hello !
You may have put the pipes in reverse.
On my bike, the two bands go to the air filter housing, and the single band on the carb side.
But as my bike is an '82... things could be different.

You are missing the rubber sleeve between the air filter housing and the air pipe.
Georges comments are correct for the 79 - Two clips at the filter end on either end of the rubber sleeve and one at the carb.
Also the left and right air pipes are different lengths so check you are using the correct one.

Thanks guys, you were totally right. The air pipes were the correct ones but the rubber collars were on the wrong ends. I don't think I would ever have figured it out by myself! (Strangely the left-hand side was lined up ok although it was wrongly fitted in the same way. I fixed that too). This is not the first time this website has set me right...
