Post by: Barry on November 19, 2012, 05:00:26 PM: I doubt it's suitable for the range of years specified in the ebay posting as the open points prior to 78 are quite different to the points in a can like your 79 and different again to the factory electronic ignition from 81 on. No system can cover all 3 ignition types unless it's crankshaft mounted which I doubt that is. Typical ebay seller who hasn't a clue.

Even the manufacturers site that Bob provided the link for has two different products for the 2 points systems pre and post 78.

Ignition is something, with brakes, to take very seriously.

Post by: Barry on November 20, 2012, 02:47:43 AM: If you just want a simple points amplifier you can build one very cheaply from a kit. It's very easy to build. By far the hardest part is finding a suitable box to put it in. Mine has been faultless for over 3 years.
