Title: Brake Pad Replacement
Post by: badgertom on November 13, 2012, 09:45:13 AM
Will the front brake pads for a 1982 R65LS fit the  1982 R65 ? I have the single disc with fix caliper in the front.  I have seen the pads on sites ( like DennisKirk.com) for the R65LS model but not the R65.

If you have Brembo calipers, they will work, but if you ATE calipers, the pads will not work, unless you alter the steel backing plate .

I found this out the first time I replaced the OEM pads on my '81 R65 with EBC FA18 pads .

About an hours worth of work on the 4 new EBC pads with a die grinder and a rotary file on the steel back plate and they worked fine .

Search eBay for the EBC FA18 pads. I bought mine for well below retail and even scored free shipping. YMMV
