Title: Got a lot of work done on the bikes today
Post by: Bob_Roller on October 20, 2012, 07:50:08 PM
Started early today, 8 AM .

Worked on the oilhead, did a front, rear brake and clutch system fluid flush .

Trans and final drive oil change .

Air Filter change .

'81 R65, front brake flush, fork oil change .

Transmission, shaft and final drive oil change .

Installed the OEM accessory charging socket and bracket installed .

'82 LS, front brake flush, fork oil change, trans, shaft and final drive oil change .

Installed the Hagon shocks I got from Rob Valdez, installed the same OEM bracket and charging socket that I did on the '81 .

Got sheet metal tabs made up and installed the upper instrument fairing on the LS .

My metal of choice (aluminum), due to it's availability from work .

It didn't lend itself to just use a sheet metal screw to secure the fairing to the metal tab .

Found a tinnerman nut clip at the local home improvement store, satisfied with the result .

I originally was going to use nut plates from work, but the self lock feature on the nuts, were too much for this application, couldn't push on the screw hard enough to keep the screwdriver bit from slipping on the screw head .

I need to get a complete rubber part kit from Bing for the '82 LS, both carbs are leaking fuel, float bowl gaskets and through the bowl vent .

I'm going with the molded floats instead of the foam type, E15 fuel (15% ethanol) is going to be coming to the Phoenix area in the next 3-4 months, so I might as well prepare for it now .

Still on the warm side here, got to 96 F. (36 C.) in the garage this afternoon .

Clear, sunny and 14% humidity .

Sounds like a very productive day - I'm jealous!   I was busy, but didn't do a single thing motorcycle related, and this was the first non-rainy day  here where I wasn't going to work in a long time.  Well, there is always tomorrow..
