Title: Tar Removal from exhaust
Post by: mtpica on July 12, 2007, 12:28:34 PM
Any recommendations on the most efficient way to remove old, cooked on tar from exhaust pipes?

I've tried several solvents from the garage shelves without much success.  The stuff is tenacious!

thanks,

I've used a razor blade to scrape off as much as possible, then used a cleaning product like Turtle Wax Chrome Cleaner, it's got a heavy abrasive in it, you may just want to try the chrome cleaner first to see if it will do the job by itself.

I was going to suggest the Turtle Wax crap as well.  It's about the only thing I've found that'll get off burnt on boot sole!
