Can anyone point me to the right direction of rear sets for the r65?
Also can you post some pictures please. Thanks!

he sells bolt on and ready to go, or you can buy the universal rear sets and bend them yourself
-
yea i was talking to a guy there and he said since the r65 is unique, that the rear sets he makes more than likely won't fit.

A neater but not as rear set solution is to modify the existing mounts.
I cut and rewelded a spare set of mounts resulting in the gear side peg and lever moving back 65mm (2.5 inches) and the right side peg back about 15mm.
This leaves both pegs in line accross the bike and the same height above the floor.
The brake pedal stays unmodified but is still easily reached.
The gear linkage is a long 6mm bolt with the head cut off and a new thread cut on the other end.
I cut the flattened tip off the right side peg mount and welded it back on in a horizontal plane so thet the rubber sits correctly.
Both peg mounts bolt back on as per standard with the original bolts.
I am very happy with the result and the fact that the footpegs now line up, I have no idea why BMW offset them so far.

I have RAASKs on mine. Not as pretty/bling as some. But they fit out of the box. And there is a special R65 version. You can also hang a passenger foot rest off them - but not the standard one.
They are a bit chunky and many of the parts are powder coated rather than metal finished. But they can be spruced up and there is plenty of room for beautification.....Not that I have bothered.

Perfect thanks!

Relocating foot-pegs increases riding pleasure - relief from heat of cylinder heads as well more balanced riding position. For a BMW look - utilizing BMW parts, please refer to my posts from 9/30/10 thru 10/3/10 under heading 'footpeg relocation'. I moved the pegs back by modifying original mountings, cut/welded rear brake pedal, threaded a cut down rear brake rod for shift (johnson) rod - used as many factory parts as possible - looks like it came off high speed Berlin assembly line (I believe BMW made about three R65 bikes a day).

Here you go then:

I love how you set up the indicators and speedo!
-
that thing is awesome, you need a build blog so i can see how you did it, looks great, you machine that yourself?
-
I just removed every thing did not need.

@steve hawkins-is there any difference with a shorten subframe? Like flex or what not?
-
Probably a little bit - But I have a bar running between the shock mounts that the saddle sits on.
When I refresh this bike - as it has been 10 years since I first did it, I will probably re-instate the hoop. But it will be kicked up slightly to pick up the mudguard near its current location, following the line of the bottom edge of the saddle. That way I will also have a more solid mount for my number plate and rear light.
Either that or I am going to mount the rear mudguard directly onto the swing arm - hugger style.
