Having only one key for the '83 R65 -and it's the OEM "folder"- plus a butchered hack job of a key for the R100S, I ordered a couple key blanks from MotoKeys. They arrived promptly and fit as advertised.
The new keys are nickel-plated brass so should not be a problem for any key cutting machine.
Here's a tip for anyone needing additional keys: My new key blacks are a commonly available item. Look for an ILCO-Y61. This key fits ignition switches for Airheads from late 60s to 1994 /5.
I paid a premium for this lesson. :-? Y'all get it for free.
Should you desire the OEM BMW folding key, with BMW logo or without (cheaper) MotoKeys has 'em.

I don't know if it will be an issue with your new key blanks, but when I had mine made at the local lock shop, the key wouldn't go in all the way, you had to file down the new key so it would go all the way into the ignition lock .
Had the problem with the airhead and Guzzi keys .

The MotoKey site provides measurements of the key to the nearest one-thousandth of an inch. I miked my keys before ordering and they were to spec.
Tried them in the ignition switches yesterday and they fit 'all the way'. So far, so good.
Nice thing about the vendor; their policy is if it doesn't meet your needs, full refund. Doesn't include the key cutting charge but my buddy at Ace Hardware and BMW Emporium will get 'er done, I'm sure.

Monte, it would probably be a good idea if you left a spare key to Beck with me just in case I ever need to come rescue you somewhere. Of if you're out of town on an extended trip and can't properly excercise the bike I'll be able to help you out. [smiley=cool.gif]
