Having a few issues with the K not holding its charge, with the battery disconnected i get a reading of 56ohms from the live terminal to earth this seemed pretty low to me even though the clock is always on so i pulled the fuses and it was still there ??.
I pulled the battery off the R65 and tested that and found no reading open circuit as expected with the ignition off.
Any thoughts appreciated i have put this on the K forum but no one is awake yet.

I don't have a K wiring diagram Lou but assuming the charging circuits are similar, the first suspect would be a leaky diode on the diode board as there is a direct unswitched connection to the battery +ve. You could try pulling the B+ connection off the diode board to see if that makes any difference.(http://)

Nice diagram Barry, there has been a suggestion on the K forum that the alternator may be the problem, i have no idea what the reading should be but i am sure 56 ohms is way too low.I was going to pull the tank off it tomorrow and have a look at the loom etc but forecast says i may be riding...

The charging diagram is from Rick Jones Mottorad Elektrik book on Airhead charging systems, their care and feeding. Highly suggested addition to your tool box.

Turns out the problem is a component fault, there is what is described as a "Loadshed" relay which i replaced when searching for some electrical gremlins a while back i took the tank off to investigate the low resistance and as i disconnected the battery i could hear the relay operating ?? as the ignition was off no relays should be energised.
The new relay( from Motorworks) grey in colour cannot be fitted incorrectly due to the pins i replaced it with the original, a blue one which i had fortunately saved and everything seems hunky dory, the relay coil has a resistance of 53ohms close to the reading i was getting and with the original relay there is no reading on the circuit.
I will be having words with Motorworks about this as it should not have happened, either its the wrong relay or a faulty one.
