I switched over to low bars, not S bars, but something almost as straight. I think they are the standard Euro bars for my '86 R65. Had to do a lot of cable repositioning, but thought I did that fine, with nothing crimped or rubbing where it shouldn't. I started it up the first time. It was a bit chillier than usual so I used the enricher. It started and just kept slowly accelerating. Had to shut it down. Can't seem to stop that.
It looks like the throttle and enricher are returning to their stops properly. Nothing seems to be catch or holding up. Can't figure it out.
Any thoughts?

When you say "returning to their stops" - are you meaning the twistgrip and enrichmet lever on the handlebars - and not the actuall levers on the carbs themselves??
I suspect that you had taller/US bars on the bike before hand, and unless you have changed the cables, they are possible too long and hanging up elsewhere (I think that the monolevers still used the cable splitter/junction box thing like the 81-85 bikes did, but maybe these used separate cables) - I cant recall as I sold my 88 many years ago..
Try moving the enrichment/choke lever on the handlebar and watch for the lever on the inside of each carb - see that it moves through its full range and goes back to its closed/stop position on the carb when you have the enrichment lever back to the normal off position. I think that it - and/or the throttle lever operation - check that as well - is not allowing the levers on the carbs to fully return and causing your increasing RPM issue.

Yes, I suspect you're right. Tonight I'll pull the tank and get everything in the open and see where it's hanging up. I didn't get a good look at any cable's action at the carbs. All cable appeared to be returning at the carbs, but I could be wrong. Can't think of anything else it could be.

On my 82 R65 and 75 R90 i have installed The RS bars and left the stock longer cables on have not had any problems with throttle or clutch operations. This has been over 25 years now.

Yeah, I just need a do-over. Missed something.

What I found was that both throttle cables were holding the carb arms off the idle stops enough to slide a piece of paper in. Haven't checked the enricher cables yet. I'm going to re-adjust the cables and see if that works. I'm surprised by that shortening of the cables. I guess the small amount of extra bend, gentle as they are, is enough to affect the cable adjustment at the carb.
