Title: Torque 201
Post by: Runninn1 on August 10, 2012, 03:28:40 PM
Unfortunately this may be class 301. I had these rascals strip out because of inaccurate torque values....long story. Anyways, what is the best thread repair for the rearend housing? Drain, level check and refill holes...I have tried many repair types over the years and they are currently holding up....but must be repaired again after my next fluid change. What is the best thread repair/insert ;)?

thanks

I haven't had to repair any of those, so can't speak from personal experience. But I have heard of tapping the driveshaft filler for the next size plug. It's a little tricky since there isn't much room and you want it to be square. I'd think the others could get a helicoil or time sert and work equally well.
