Title: R65 Carb spits back (Left carb)
Post by: Runninn1 on August 08, 2012, 03:30:02 PM
Original owner of 86 R65 and just found this site...great! Anyways, I have rebuilt both carbs mutilple times over the decades and am having trouble getting the left one dialed...it stumbles just above idle and spits back every other ride. Classic pilot plug blockage signs?
Other ideas?

thanks

Have you ever replaced the o-ring on the throttle shaft ?

I had this give me problems trying to get the carbs synchronized, the idle jet, that's the one just inside the float bowl next to the idle mixture adjustment, the jet has two holes drilled in it at 90 degrees to each other .

There is a small orifice at the very end of the jet, mine was clogged, I got fooled when I sprayed carb cleaner into the jet at the screwdriver slot, it came out the holes in the side, nothing came out the very end .

Stumbling just above idle could be pilot jet related or perhaps more likely blocked transfer ports but it could also be uneven throttle cable synch.
