Timing, chain? If I am in the process of pulling trans and heads and is there anything else I should consider. I will mic the clutch as well. Hey what hell I am keeping bike anyway.

Trochoidal oil pumps are generally assessed for wear by measuring side and end clearances with a feeler gauge. This is something you really do need a manual for to get the correct specs.

The only reference I can find in the BMW shop manual, is play in the rotor itself, it's .15 -.29 mm, .006 -.011 in .
Not a bad idea to take the cover off and replace the o-ring under it at the least bit .
Check the rotor and housing for any signs of obvious problems/damage .
You will see a bit of a chafe or scuff mark on the cover, it's normal to see that, as long as it's not deep .
Can't say I've ever heard of an oil pump go bad on these bikes, usually it's the high pressure the pump puts out, that causes the problems with collapsed filters .
