Title: Wanted R65 turn signal switch parts
Post by: raygun on July 04, 2007, 04:13:40 PM
The turn signal switch on the R65 went to pieces. Does any one have the left side controls, that maybe have a bad horn switch or high/low beam switch? I just need parts of the turn signal switch. Namely the thumb lever and the switch spring and the little dog under spring inside the contact block.

Normally, the turn directional switch is the first to fail, it's usually easier to replace the switch assembly than to repair as all of the parts are usually in pretty bad shape. If you go to eBay, a seller lamontsanford in Austin ,Texas has a fair amount of R65 parts up for sale, can't remember if he has a switch available. Just checked eBay, and he does have a switch for sale it's at about $12 right now. Don't let the price get too high if you do bid, as a new one is around $70 or so.

You also might want to PM Rev. Eddie (member of this forum) as he also sells R65 parts from time to time.  This is one of those parts that is always good to snag a spare of if the price is right.  I've found over the years that wear items like this can be had pretty reasonable on e-Bay if you're patient.  Being in immediate need always seems to double the price!

Hi guys

just read the posts. ( back from Hospital)  Got a friend of mine in Philly to bid on ebay and purchased a few r65 parts from the guy "lamontsanfurd" from Texas. I needed the headlight chrome ring - mine had gotten a bit squished when the bike had been dropped by the previous owner., so bought the whole headlight dome. bid was 101.00  - I inderstand that to get one here second hand was around 300.
Also bought the LH switch (47.00) as the indicator lever had a lot of play and u had to place it exactly at the right spot to get the LH indicator to flash. Bought the right switch as a spare (26.00) LH Mirror 12.00 and the mounting bracket in the front that holds the Headlight,Indicators and speedo Pod. That was 12.00. The previous owner  had broken the RH Indicator stalk and had welded the bit back on, So now the wires are all on the outside.
Have to organise to get them here To Australia.

I keep trawling wBay n if I come across the part again, will post the info here
