Title: Minor Induction Leak?
Post by: Air4Life on June 27, 2012, 04:41:10 PM
I wanted to replace all four of the "grommets" yesterday.  So I had removed a set from one side for comparison. I later placed them back on.  I also readjusted the angle of the other carb, along with the clamps.  After tightening the whole thing down and test running it, I immediately noticided that it no longer requres choke at these temps.  Today, more of the same.

Coincidence, I don't think so, but who can say for sure.  I have some doubt because I would have thought my idle would have needed readjustment, which is not the case.  So with that, I'm not 100% sure.   What am I missing?

Angle of the carb could alter the effective float level ?

but yes you might have cured an air leak and changing the mixture unless it was a long way off wouldn't necessarily change idle speed which can be stable across a range of mixture strengths and only falls with extreme lean or rich mixtures.
