Title: Starter Motor
Post by: Graeme on June 18, 2012, 04:12:36 AM
I had the intolerable grinding sound that wakes up the neighbors on starting begining to present itself, so I did a search for parts and came across this:-

I thought at this price (+US$50) for delivery it would be better option than trying to recondition the existing one.

I checked Motobins for good measure and found that it's UK138 (+ del.)

That Valeo starter should be fine and will save some weight if you have a Bosch but I recall you may need to upgrade the starter relay due the risk of contacts welding permanently on. Checkout it out on Snowbum's site.

Just in case you change your mind about rebuilding your existing starter, Euromoto has overhaul kits for less than $14.00USD.

Do you have a local shop that repairs starters, generators and alternators ?

Maybe a more cost effective solution .

These starters were common in the early to mid '80's .
