Title: Realignment of headlight brackets
Post by: mkocal on June 08, 2012, 10:29:55 PM
On my 1984 LS: Any tips on how to bend the brackets that hold the headlight back into alignment after a fall into a picnic table. The brackets and headlight are moved over to the point that the headlight touches the covering cockpit. Thanks in advance.

Hi mkocal - I would advise getting a local mech shop to have a go - the metal will need heating up a lot to make it malleable so it doesn't crack or break off at the fold. I just had my very old crash bars reset to normal  to take a small bend out of them. My mate had to heat them up and work a  small straightening then heat them up again and so on. Maybe a local metalworkers shop could help - my friend works in an industrial metal work shop so had all the equipment and understaood the properties of the metal. Good luck ....
