Title: OEM Oil Filter Alternative
Post by: Bob_Roller on June 25, 2007, 10:13:18 AM
Saw an auction on eBay for a Wix oil filter for airhead bikes, part number is 24945. Comes with the o-ring and cover gasket. I checked NAPA for a price, and it's about $9.50. Might be a source if you don't have a local dealer you can count on. It's a hinged filter.

Does anybody have any info on which is the "best" filter for the airhead bike?  (Which filter stops the smallest particles)

Thanks in advance,

I don't worry about it.  I have always used OEM filters, bought from a dealer or parts supplier like Matt at Boxerworks.

So far I have only blown up 1 R65 engine. (no wink...)

I tend to use the pattern filters supplied by Motorworks in their service kits, and they seem to work as well as the OEM kit.

I use the Mahle filters which ARE the same as BMW filters as Mahle is the OEM for the filters...
