Title: R65 Tank pads? Pics or recommendations?
Post by: craig@pmpress.org on February 25, 2012, 02:09:49 PM
Hi fellas, I'd like to add some knee pads to the R65 gas tank. It has no dents for them (1984) so they need to be pretty thin. Anyone add these or have recommendations? Thanks, CO

You could always cut out bits of leatherette and stick em on the sides.  It might suit.  I tried it for a while but removed them in the end as it did not suit my particular bike....

Fantastic bike Steve and the knee pads look great! I think cutting my own may be the way to go.

I have used these on airheads before, they are made in Germany, the same company that makes most of BMW factory kneepads these days, CSS

Here's something I found I really like: Scotchgard Paint Protection Film. You can get it in rolls of different widths and lengths.

It's very subtle and inexpensive.  I only wish I would have found it earlier.

It takes patience to apply but I'm very happy with the results and now I have it in my three beemers.
