Title: Pod filters for the Halfway Cafe
Post by: bangpaul on March 20, 2012, 01:26:50 AM
Has anyone had any experience with pod filters on the R65? With my aftermarket fairing and seat, the bike's a kind of halfway cafe, and I was thinking that if I get rid of the air filter box and lift the battery higher it would look pretty good.

I have to sell the bike soon and I thought with a few cheap modifications I might be able to cash in on the cafe racer craze.

Look for the oval type of pod filter if you must have them.  You need as much surface area as you can or they can get restrictive.

If you are selling, I would just give a good clean and make sure every thing works

It will probably be faster with the airbox than without.  If you lose the airbox, you still have to deal with the breather and tidy up the area where the airbox used to be.

10 years down the line your bike will be bought by someone who will bitch and moan about the 'previous owner' converting it to a Cafe Racer whilst they convert it back to standard!

I'm not saying don't do it, just don't bother if your going to sell it.

Thanks Steve.  I think I might be inventing jobs so I can hold on to it for longer. It's ridiculous. I have to sell it as I'm moving overseas, and the sooner I do it the better.
