Hello again - I would like to replace the rubbers on my rear footrests (see pik) as part of the resto. I have been told that the rubbers aren't available seperately as are the front rubbers (Aussie $10 each) and that I have to buy a complete unit at Aussie $50 approx. Does anyone know where I might get some rear footrest rubbers or perhaps some aftermarket ones that are square like the originals. Thanks for any help guys. Adrian..... :D

Hi Adrian, I'm planing to clean mine up as best I can. I can always reconsider if need be. But for now I need to ease up on my cash flow :o D2

None of the usual UK aftermarket suppliers seem to have them but the online parts fiches show the rubber separately so maybe they can be had from a BMW dealer.

Hi dave mine are worn and perishing in small areas so I'd really like to replace them if possible.
Thanks Barry I'll get the OEM part number and go from there.

I understand entirely if you are doing a proper restoration job and don't want to compromise. A temporary fix might be to turn the rubbers over. I've never done it on the rear rubbers before only the front. Not easy but the fronts will rotate.

Does this link help you out ????

I contacted an airhead 'friendly' BMW dealer here in Aridzona and the foot rest 'bushing' , item #2 is still available from BMW for under $10US .
Again these are not my words, but the parts manager at the dealership, the foot rest rubber had not changed for airheads for sometime, take that for what it's worth .
Item #14 is for the forward footrest, I've got receipts for the the ones I've replaced on my '81 R65, same BMW part number .
If you take a look at your R65, the foot rest 'bushings' are shaped differently on the front and rear .
I used the RealOEM site, because you can't link to a page on the other sites like A&S BMW, Max BMW, etc .

Barry - thanks for the idea but mine are in pretty poor condition all round really.
Thanks Bob - it looks like the item 2 - a single rubber (bushing) is for the rod type footrest immediately in front of it on the diagram. The ones I have are clearly shown but as either a single complete unit or a pair of complete units on the listing - quite confusing. I have the numbers thanks so I'll try one of the really good BMW dealerships here in Oz. Thanks for the help - much appreciated - Adrian.....

In that diagram, number 2 looks like the one for the rear - the fronts are angled at the bottom in the diagram, #2 isn't.
But I'd always heard the rubbers weren't replaceable. And they looked that way to me. Let us know what you find out - that'd be great if they can be refurbished.
