Title: Solo seat on 1984 R65, looking for rack suggestion
Post by: craig@pmpress.org on November 22, 2011, 01:55:23 PM
Hi folks,
While working on the rest of the new to me 1984 R65, another question. I have a rare solo seat on the bike which I like (pic should be attached) which leaves the fender and frame exposed. No big deal, but anyone have a clue on what sort of rack would/could fit or be neatly attached behind the seat? Thanks, Craig

Motobins  (http://www.motobins.co.uk/) sells this one for $210.

You have to cut it up some and have it welded to your subframe though.

They also have a different one for only $101, but I don't know how easy it would be to attach it.

Here is what mine looks like:

I guess I should bump my ad in the Trading Post.  I am selling my seat, rack and subframe for $350.
With the proceeds I may buy a new bench seat from a 2nd generation model.

Thanks Rob. That is an excellent set-up, but I have no desire to weld or cut anything. There's plenty of space here for a small bag, and it looks like alot of reasonable attachment points. Hoping there is a flat rack that would attach nicely?
