Title: Shorai Lightweight Battery
Post by: Olliepup on November 13, 2011, 12:11:59 PM
Does anyone have experience with this battery? The listed model for my '86 R65 is LFX27L3-B512. They state more power, no need for a tender, weight savings, no acid, more useful life. I see a listed price of $89.95.

Any thoughts??
Thanks, Wavy Dave

I think you may have the price wrong, here's a link to the Shorai site, for a battery for an '86 R65 .

If you can get it for  around $90US, I'd go for it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I went through Motomummy.com and the first price they were showing was $89.95, but upon going back, it now shows a price of $248.36. The old price of $89.95 is for a much smaller battery; an LFX07L2-BS12.
So, it looks like $248.36 is the correct price for the R65 battery. This does not sound like a good value for the money, to me.
Thanks for setting me straight.

for that kind of money, I will just stick with my Staab universal.  I got one around mid-summer this year.  In the past my batteries used to be discharged in about two week of non-use to the point where it would barely (and sometimes would not) start the engine.  Due to recent weather conditions and other factors, it had been over 3 weeks since I had run the bike, the battery was not on a tender, and the Staab fired it up in a solid manner.
