Here's a picture of my bike. I'm sure you all know what it looks like but I had to show it off. I need a windshield for it so looking for suggestions. Steffie

Good looking bike, an '81 by chance ?
Also, and I'm not great at posting pictures, but to be of a manageable size, they need to be around 600x600 or so in size .
Where on the planet do you call home ????

Very nice but you need to resize your pictures to about 600/650 p wide for best effect, where are you so best advice can be given.

I have a Plexifairing 3 from National Cycle and am very happy with it. It does not have a frame, so it's practically invisible and it's large enough to give hand and leg protection. PLUS, it's around two hundred bucks...cheap like free. (1986 R65 monolever)

I"ll figure out how to resize pictures. Can't be too hard. I'm located in Central Virginia.

What sort of riding do you plan to do - lots of longer distances on interstate, short hops around town, everything in between?
Some people just want a smaller fairing to keep the pressure off their chest, others want full coverage from any moving air as they ride in chilly temperatures, etc. Some want a frame mount (fixed) fairing for maximum protection and no wind-pushing-the-handlebars effect.
There are a number acrylic type fairings that work oretty well on these bikes, and others.
So, any more info you can provide about what you like and what you plan to do with it will help with what we can suggest.

Just be aware that these handlebar mounted screens can be problematic in a crosswind.
They will act like a sail and steer the bike for you. This will also occur when passing or being passed by large trucks, etc. The bigger they are the more they will be affected.
Not my favourite device for that reason. I had a small one on my R100....Had - I sold it on to a neighbour.
However - forwarned is forarmed and all that.

I would recommend the Emgo Screen, some details on my fitting here: http://www.bmwr65.org/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1310686799/16#16
I added a few more tie wraps underneath since posting the above which settled some annoying vibes at low revs.
Couple more pics of the screen here:

As the lower headlight fairing is black, should suit your bike nicely.

Agree with NHMAF...the type of windshield depends on the type of riding you do and comfort level with more or less protection from the elements. While I like riding naked around home :), I generally use a fairing on trips. I initially bought the Street Shield from National Cycle, http://shop.nationalcycle.com/perl/cycle/results2.html?search_model=bm-012.
Later I wanted a different look and bought an S type fairing on eBay, similar to the one JCWhitney sells at, http://www.jcwhitney.com/sport-style-fairings/p2000644.jcwx?filterid=c14140d3026y1979j3. While it offers more protection than riding naked, I think the National Cycle fairing provides more protection (National Cycle also sells larger versions). Albeit I did initially cut back the ebay bought windshield to be more rounded like an S, but then added a modified Laminar Lip to it when I was planning an extended trip.
My understanding is that there was a rare factory (?) fairing option for the R65, albeit it may have been Europe only. The fairing is plastic and plexiglass as on the S type fairing, but it is more rectangular in shape than rounded. JCWhitney had a similar one that I purchased awhile back (haven't tried it yet), but I don't see it now. It looks similar to the one on the blue R65 in the picture below...
