Hi All,
Really cracking on with the strip down, does anybody have advice on how to remove the steering lock from the frame please?
I cannot see any way to remove it without damage!
Thanks
Chris

Do you have the key? (If not, take the frame to a locksmith and he should be able to make one for you.)
With the key, push in the lock and turn it, I believe, to the left, and the entire lock will come out with the key.

Quite right, it's the same action as when locking the steering except that you pull instead of push!

Here is what I mean.
I need the whole thing out, not just the barrel.
Thanks

You might consider a web-based photo storage. I use Photobucket. I'm also a Mac user.
The service is free -my all-time favorite 4-letter "F" word- and after uploading your snaps, you simply go to the photo you wish to post, drag the cursor over the pic, click IMG code and the photo will be copied. Then simply paste into your thread and you're in. http://photobucket.com/
You should have Photoshop Elements on your Mac. A simple way to resize images, then store them on Photobucket. Try to keep the photo's largest dimension in the area of 640 pixels.
Also, your digi camera likely has a choice of image sizes driven by pixel count. Try a smaller image size and you will not likely need to resize the photo.
Try your new skills in the forum's Test Zone prior to posting. If it ain't to your liking, delete it and try again. Good luck. The forum's administrator will thank you, too.

The cover comes off with a flat blade screwdriver used as a pry tool. The rivet is held in place by friction, no need to drill it out.
To clarify what I said, you can remove the entire lock mechanism with the key, turn it to the left and the whole thing will come out with the key. That is, the lock cylinder and the dead bolt that fits into a slot in the steering stem.
The picture shows the steel case that holds the lock mechanism. It's welded to the steering head. I can't imagine a reason to want to remove that.

If you did cut off the lock stub (case), you would probably want to weld a cover over the opening.
Although you could probably fill it with JB Weld.
