Title: Removing tank badges
Post by: Milo_357 on August 06, 2011, 05:56:17 PM
Hey headz,

Does anyone know the right way to remove tank badges?  The vinyl part of my BMW badge has peeled back from the metal backing that sticks to the tank.

Anyone know a safe way to remove the metal backing from the tank?

Thanks!

Get the wide flat dental floss and WD-40 (or equiv).  Start the floss behind, lube it up, and use the floss as a "saw" to cut through the adhesive backing on the badge.

Ah, way cool.  I can swipe some from my daughter; braces.

Thanks!

Don't get caught!  Don't forget the WD as it will start sticking in the foam adhesive and turn into a PITA...

What did you ride the Dragon with?

My 1982 R65.  I put some pictures of the ride in the Ride Report section if you want to see it.
