I need adhesive advice -
I have a '79 that has those flat-tops that you don't see everywhere.
Those that have them, know about the white ring that holds the diaphragm to the slide.
Well, one of mine is not staying in place, anymore. As far as I know it is not split, just too large on the ID from being taken off/on.
And the general consensus is that these rings are not available, new. If anyone knows different, I will be happy to listen.
So my question is - until I can pony up the $120 for two replacements (the ass'y includes the diaphragm, slide and needle), what kind of adhesive is best for the application?
My first thought was superglue, but the top of the slide sees some vibration, and it might be too brittle. So perhaps I should go with ... silicone?
Thanks!

I am no expert in this area, but I think that I would also choose silicone/RTV sealant
in this case. It generally stays pliable and sticks to a variety of things, yet not
so much that you cannot get it off when you have to. Also tend to stand up to
the presence of gasoline better than crazy glue or other compounds dissolved
by acetone, etc.
Good luck !

RTV is a ood choice, just make sure you use a product that is meant for automotive use ( oil and fuel resistant).

The Permatex should work fine, and is heat/moisture/fuel resistant also.
Available at the local AutoZone/Advance Auto/etc.

i have made repairs to diaphrams using stuff called sho glu. it is like a heavy duty rubber cement type and it flexs and moves with the diaphram. i fixed one on a xs650 and drove it like that for two years till i found where i could get new ones from.
