I'm sure this topic has been covered to death before now, but here's my first effort that I whipped up in a couple of hours and out of a few bits I had laying about in the shed.

There was no formula to the size of it, it was just the size of the bit of perspex that I already had. ;D
I turns out that it takes the wind off my chest nicely, now that I've also raise the bars a tad.
It still needs finishing with a trim of some sort etc, but I think it's pretty close to being right......... as luck will have it........... ;)

Check with a good auto body and refinisher supply store. I have found thin, U-channel rubber that will fit over most windshield of a certain thickness. You can buy it by the foot.

Other than the silver pan washers and fasteners, which I would get anodized black, I think it looks great!

Thanks fellas.
Yeah, the washers do stand out a bit. ;D
I've done a few more miles on it since and I'm really happy. I've never been one for big windscreens, but this size takes the edge off the wind blast and makes the ride that much nicer. :)
Thanks for the tip too, Monte.
I was going to split some vacuum hose I had here, but that stuff you talk about sounds much neater.

Oh, you'll love trying to cut a straight slit in a rubber hose. ;D
There's a little wooden, home-made jig that will do the deed neatly... if I could only find the sketch.
