Title: Conrod Bolt Size
Post by: Tony_T on February 17, 2011, 11:26:59 PM
I need a multi spline tool for my big end bolts.
Can someone tell me what size I need?
An 8mm allen key fits in there, so I guess it's 8mm? Or is multi spline different sizing?
Thanks in advance for any advice.  :)

It is a special tool.

Here is one source.  It is the cheapest & has no socket:

This is the next inexpensive, it does have a socket (but no picture):

And finally, if cost is no object and you want the finest, Snap-On:

I don't know if Sears sells one or not.

Here you can see the guys on BMWMOA yacking about it:

Further down in the discussion, there is some talk about what size it might be.

Here is a good post on ADVrider on what NOT to buy!

Thanks a lot mate.
So, it's 12mm. Weird that an 8mm allen key fits..........
Anyway, that's great. I'll go into town tomorrow and grab one.  8-)
