Well it's finally happened I have to break the silence 'cuz the bike broke. Nothing of interest really. My 3 year old wet battery has failed to start and only puts out 8vdc under load. I'll be fitting a new one but decided to go through the starter, relay, switch and cables while I'm at it. Bob Roller had some experience with refreshing the starter and I'm looking for tips on bringing it to top shape. I've not dug into it yet so I'm not really sure which one I have. If anyone is looking for photos of any sort to embellish a how to article I have camera at hand tho I am not a very proficient writer. The resistor value for bridging the charging light also comes to mind as a worthy upgrade at this point. 70°F and no start ugh!

Good to hear you're still around .
There isn't any real difficult process to take the starter apart .
Only frustrating thing on re-assembly is getting a small metal cup over a split steel ring on the armature shaft .
You need a non-conductive grease ( no Honda Moly 60 grease) with a high 'drip point', a high melting temp .
The resistor for the charge indicator is a 330 ohm 5 watt .
Have you made any decision on what battery to get ?
At 1700 local, I've got 79 F. (26C) on the thermometer in the back patio and 85 F. (29C) in the garage .
