When I first started my R65 after it had been sitting for 10 years, the generator light stayed on up until it reached about 1600rpm.
The generator brushes looked quite worn, so I replaced them but it still does the same.
Is this normal?
Thanks again for your words of wisdom....... ;)
Edit: The battery is brand new and I've double checked all connections.

My experience is that it is not normal with a fully charged battery and no electrical load which in my case means no lights on. My generator light is off at a normal warm idle speed of 1000 -1050 rpm. With US style full time headlights I suspect the revs would need to be a little higher.

That's pretty much normal for my bike to have the GEN light on until the engine rpm's get to the 14-1500 rpm area after the first start of the day .
