Title: Clutch Cable
Post by: Julio A. on January 09, 2011, 04:13:49 AM
Just a quick question; I've noticed that my clutch cable is dangling between the right exhaust header and the engine case. Parts of the cable cover is already melted and worn due to it's proximity to the hot exhaust pipe.

I've noticed most pictures of the R65 on the internet where the clutch cable is not visible dangling of the right side of the bike. How to they route that cable neatly?

Hi Julio

It should go through the frame above and to the right of the horn, then down behind the vertical frame tube and along above the horizontal frame tube below the right cylinder.

Cheers Bruce

There are different-length cables available for different-height handlebars.  It is possible you have a cable that is longer than necessary?

Be creative when it comes to routing, so long as it follows a straightforward path, eliminating any possible kinks.

Sounds like the clutch cable could use a few black cable ties to secure it to the frame .

Black nylon cable ties are your friend.  Route it along the 'top' edge of the frame tube as much as possible to protect it from damage.
