Although my research has been related to my Triumph Trophy, it is directly applicable to BMWs as well.
I have been needing a male plug to match up with the OEM power port on the Turnip. Some Hinckley folks have said a BMW-style plug will fit. My problem is that I've never actually seen a BMW-style power plug. Triumph RAT to the rescue. http://www.triumphrat.net/
Rather than over pay for a plug, I discovered John Deere Tractor dealers have both the male and female "BMW-style" components for a great price.
The male plug is Deere part #RE11340 for $7.30USD. The female socket is offered as part #AL25073 for $3.80USD or a more stout female ;) as part #MG82002966.
Also, the Powerlet folks offer BMW-style components.

Hope this is helpful.

Also called a "Bosch" type plug. See the Cycle Gadgets website.

I tried to get these from the local John Deere dealer and was told they are a special order item. With their handling and order charges it was cheaper to buy the ones from BMW. Just my experience but then again it is not a very large dealership.

I called the local John Deere dealer, they said the part number RE11340, was a discontinued oil line .

Yep, I did see it. Cycle Gadgets sells the Powerlet products. Quoting Mako in The Sand Pebbles, "All same, all same." [smiley=thumbup.gif]

Was that a 12V oil line? ::)
Did Mr. Deere have a correct number for the plug? My Triumph source is evidently incorrect.

They didn't have much of any idea of what I was talking about .
Couldn't help with a part number .
The part number MG82002966 is also an obsolete number .
Part number AL25073 is a good number for the receptacle, but I didn't ask any more questions about price or availability .

I just checked the John Deere website for the US of A.
Power plug RE11340 is available. Power socket AL25073 is available. These part numbers are good ones.
Both are Bosch products so I'm thinking that many foreign car part websites may have the same parts. I do not have prices as the Deere site requires a log-in as a customer.
Deere dealerships are franchises, just like Burger King... But sometimes you just can't "Get It Your Way".
This whole deal began with me looking for a power plug for the existing power port on the Trophy. Just want a ciggy lighter plug-to-BMW-style socket so I can charge the cell phone. May buy this Powerlet product: http://www.powerlet.com/product/10-powerlet-to-cigarette-socket-cable/10
Or may go with this dual outlet gizmo:

PS: Gonna surf some of my Cabriolet sites first.

Monte, that one will work for you. I carry one in the tank bag for the cell phones and the GPS.

Well, that's exactly what I'm looking for as well. Thanks :)
