Title: Bent Snowflake

Can a bent snowflake be repaired? I just witnessed a buddies wheel that seems to be bent in a small section of his snowflake.  I haven't measured runout yet even though it's enough to be obvious by the naked eye.  Is there a specified maximum runout value that a wheel should or shouldn't be used?  And if a repair can be made, who does this type of work?  Buchanons?  Woody's?

Any help, experience or direection is appreciated, this guy doesn't need any more bad luck.

They can be repaired if not too badly mangled.   There is a shop over here in NH that does repair work such as this but I have never used them - I think there are other shops closer to you, of course.

Here's the service bulletin that specifies maximum wheel runout of 0.5mm Lateral and 0.9mm Radial

Wow, that doesn't leave much room for error does it?  I'll pass this on to Kurt.  I want to try and get some measuremnts on it with the dial indicator.  You can actually see it in the photo attached.

It is a very tight spec even for cast wheels. You have to wonder if they are all quite that good in real life. Maybe the experienced guys on the Airheads list will know.

If it can be done, this guy can do it.  No web site just word of mouth advertising.  It will cost you about $90.

Mike, also you might talk to the guys at US Wheel in El Cajon. They've straightened and polished/painted many sets of wheels for me for my Bimmers over the years.
