i was looking over the top of my 79 r65 and noticed that the foot pegs are not in the same line. when sitting on the bike i never noticed that my feet where not in the same place, or are my foot pegs in the wrong place? it seems like it is suposed to be like that?? now that i see it i can feel it in my feet position.

They are supposed to be like that because, if you look closely, you'll see the cylinders are offset. The offset in the pegs is consistent with the cylinder offset...
-
Did you notice how offset the cylinders and carbs are as well ?
You can make some small adjustments to the footpeg positions, but
this can end up with the tops not being horizontal, that bothers me alot more.
If you have big feet, you'll know and appreciate why the footpegs are offset !

it was on eof things i never noticed and i was starting to think i needed to share what ever i was smoking, being that this was in a accident and things where missing or replaced i was wondering if i had the wrong pegs on or something. know that you say it i feel kinda dumb :-[ but its not the first time i done something like this. ;D

Don't feel bad. Due to the unique layout of the engine, our bikes are just a little "different" than the rest.
If you've never had one before, how are you to know?
This exact same question came up on Boxerworks not so long ago.
It will be asked again.
The difference between the way you learned it and the way I learned it, is we didn't have computer consoles in every house and on every desk at work, where you can get these things answered for free and with ease.
And no, I don't know how I would go about phrasing that on Google... I tried "bmw footpeg offset" and got nothing that applied on page 1...
