Are the footrests meant to be adjustable by rotating them around the mounting bolts and if so will the brake/gear linkages accommodate the change.
I would like to lower mine a little but it looks to me like the gear linkage may be a problem.

I think that I've rotated mine 'backward' 1 "click' to give a bit more clearance for fitting my big feet under the carbs and over the rear brake pedal. But, I don't think that you can go too many positions/clicks before the footpeg profile is all wrong for riding any sort of distance.
Somewhere I thought I had seen a peg lowering kit (bolt on brackets) for these old airheads but can't seem to recall where at the moment..

You can get a reasonable amount of adjustment but you need to re-adjust the brake light switch (which is a fiddly PITA job) the brake pedal height is adjusted with the wing nut on the end on the rod.

Thanks guys
I had a go today and found only a small amount of adjustment was possible. I was also confused by the parts fiche diagrams until I saw that there were changes to the footrest mounts on the later models after 09/80. Always something new to learn. I'll have to take a close look at a later model when I see one.
I recognise items 1 to 8 allowing for item 1 being different on the RHS but have no idea what item 13 is or what item 11 has to do with footrests.(http://)

Barry,
I've been looking at that page on the microfiche, lately, and it seems very few of the numbers correlate with the listing beneath the picture. It just seems to be messed up.

No wonder I was confused. I don't always trust these diagrams 100% especially if they don't ask for a serial No or date of manufacture
