Title: retread motorcycle tires
Post by: bjamesw on August 11, 2010, 11:31:31 AM
Retreads on radial carcasses.  With many hours of time invested reading the pros/cons I've decided to stick with bias plys on the R65.

They re-manufacture only radial tires for street use .

I've got a front tire on the oilhead that is coming close to needing replacement, I've been considering going with one of these, just haven't made my mind up yet which way to go .

Aside from running retread snow tires (which are basically worn out after 1 winter season of driving) on some of my early cars, I personally would rather buy less expensive new tires than go with retreads.   On bikes, I don't think I'd even consider retreads - they may be safe, but with my luck, I'd get the odd flier that the QC inspector missed.   At least on a car/truck, if the retread throws its cap off you get a bumpy ride to the breakdown lane - on a bike - fall down go boom!

Yeah - only two wheels?  Fresh new rubber every time.
